Using tag editors
Tags are shown on the right side of the main window, grouped into tabs (for example Exif, IPTC, XMP, or the camera maker) and sections. Tabs for camera makers appear only when the selected files contain their maker notes.
Use the Visible Tags menu in the toolbar to choose which tags are shown:
- Basic – the most common tags,
- Extended – more tags, including the XMP Plus licensing tags,
- Credit, Copyright and Info – authorship, copyright, and description tags,
- Web (Google Search) – the tags Google uses to show image credits and licensing in search results.
Editors
Each tag has an editor that matches its type:
| Editor | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Text | Type the value. Multi-line fields, such as descriptions, are larger text areas. |
| List | Each item is shown as a token. You can type new items and delete existing ones. |
| Pop-up menu | Choose one of the allowed values, for example Orientation or a country code. |
| Checkbox | Turns the value on or off. |
| Number | Type a whole or decimal number. Fractions, such as exposure time, can be typed as 1/250. |
| Number with unit | A number together with a pop-up menu for its unit or reference. |
| Rating | Click a star to set the rating, or the rejected symbol to mark the image as rejected. |
| Date and time | Click the value to open the editor. You can type the digits, or use the up and down arrow keys. Clear removes the date and Reset returns the original value. Adjust by shifts the date by an offset instead of setting it. |
| GPS coordinates | Type the latitude or longitude in decimal degrees and choose North/South or East/West. |
| Structure | A group of fields, for example Location Shown or Licensor. Use + to add an entry and the remove button to delete it. |
Context menu
Right-click any field to show the context menu:
- Restore Original Value – returns the value that was loaded from the file,
- Clear – removes the value.
Both work on all selected files. See Batch editing.
